Western Jurisdiction's Q&A:

Q:  Is Supreme Council of the United States, Western Jurisdiction legitimate?
A:  Yes

Q:  What makes us legitimate?

A: Our charter issued in 1864 by Baron Auguste Hugo Debulow 33' empowered to work in the United States by the Supreme Council of France.

Q: Does Supreme Council of the United States, Western Jurisdiction recognized other masonic bodies and jurisdictions?

A;  We do recognize other masonic bodies and jurisdictions rightfully formed and dispursed by the authority of a legal representive of  legitimate Supreme Council (i.e Stephan Morin, Baron Auguste Hugo Debulow, etc.).

Q: Why do some blue lodge claim 'Scottish Rite' Freemasonry is clandestine?

A:   Most blue lodge freemasons are never give correct information on the 'Scottish Rite'. The Scottish Rite contains the higher degrees in freemasonry.  The blue lodge or York Rite freemasons can not reach the 15' - 33' without becoming a member of the Scottish Rite. Most Masonic Lodges consider any regular lodge in competition with them are clandestine, whether the competing lodge is using the same rituals or not and whether the competing lodge is legally constituted or not.

Q: Do 'regular' unaffiliated lodge members join the Scottish Rite?

A: Yes, joining us from the 4' - 33'.

Q: Are there different levels of the 32' and 33's?

A: Yes the 32' and 33' has several different levels (i.e. the meritorious 32' degree, 33' Grand Inspectors General, the honorary 33, Sovereign Grand Inspectors General and several caps or distinguished crowns).

Q: What are active 33's?

A: Active 33's are members appointed to the Supreme Council. These positions can not be asked for. These 33' members are affirmed by the Most Puissant Sovereign Grand Commander.  Some 33' are inactive members of the supreme council. The Council of the Grand Nine represents the executive, legislative, and judiciary bodies of the Scottish Rite. There are only 33 members of a Supreme Council.  Some 33's serve as delegates assisting with the Supreme Council's business affairs.

Q: is Freemasonry, York Rite and Scottish Rite uniformed like the Greek fraternities?

A:  Yes the uniformity is similar to the Greeks. Each organization may be constituted by various authorities but they are governed by regularity and principles of Freemasonry, York Rite and Scottish Rite authority and ritualistic work.
